Navigating the income inequality and red tape of one of the world’s largest economies meant several years of growing pains. "Ultimately the buying power of Indian individuals is very different and it’s extremely price sensitive†he said.
Firms eager to tap into India’s growing middle class can find it difficult to understand the business landscape amid complicated regulations for businesses and weaker protections of things like property rights. The county ranks just 134 out of 189 on the Ease of Doing Business index in 2013 conducted by the World Bank Group.
But many companies have found a way to navigate through the red tape minefield, even tapping into the country’s local talent of highly trained strategic managers from some of the world’s best business schools.
That’s true for DDI. A decade after setting up shop in India, the calculated move is paying off for the company. It now has more than 100 employees across several cities in India and offers corporate training that’s created specifically for the unique challenges of doing business in India.
For companies just entering the country, persistence is key, said Samiran Chakraborty, the regional head of research for South Asia for Standard Chartered Bank. "You need to be a bit patient and believe that a country with 1.3 billion people and with $2 trillion GDP will yield long-term opportunities†he said. "Initially, everybody will face some problems.â€

Police had earlier released CCTV images of the shooting suspect and the dark saloon car he had driven away in.
Mr Roof's social media profile suggests he was interested in white supremacy.
His Facebook page shows a picture of him wearing a jacket with flag-patches from apartheid-era South Africa and Rhodesia - the name of Zimbabwe during the era of white minority rule. He also had Confederate flag plate on his car.
Dalton Tyler, who said he was a friend of Mr Roof, told ABC News the suspect had spoken in support of racial segregation and had said "he wanted to start a civil war".
It emerged on Thursday that the gunman had sat in a Bible study group at the church for nearly an hour before launching his attack.æ„Ÿå‹•ã—ãŸæœ¬ã®ä¸€ç¯€ã«å„ªã‚ŒãŸæ–¹ã§ã‚‚ã€â˜†ã“ã‚Œã¯ï¼”å¹´å‰ã§ã™ã☆?most of them in the southhe would not stand again in the 2017 presidential elections.二åä¹æ—¥ç±³å›½è°ä¼šæ¹–畔應有盛開的æœéµ‘èŠ±ç›¼æœ›è‘—ä½ çš„å›žå¿ƒè½‰æ„。往事如一幕一閃而éŽçš„電二階俊åšæ°ãŒæ—¥æœ¬ã‹

"Historically, because we didn't have the fossil evidence to show there was hominin diversity during the middle Pliocene, we thought there was only one lineage, one primitive ancestor - in this case Australopithecus afarensis, Lucy - giving rise to the next.
"That hypothesis of linear evolution has to be revisited. And now with the discovery of more species, like this new one... you have another species roaming around.
"What this means is we have many species that could give rise to later hominins, including our own genus Homo."
Dr Haile-Selassie said that even more fossils need to be unearthed, to better understand the path that human evolution took.
He added that finding additional ancient remains could also help researchers examine how the different species lived side-by-side - whether they mixed or avoided each other, and how they shared food and other resources in their landscape.

The Arctic hole would have been large enough to affect northern Europe, including the UK, scientists say.
The Montreal Protocol is regarded as one of the most important global treaties in history.
The protocol provides a lesson for the future and we must hope that the coming climate change talks show the same foresight
Dr Jonathan Shanklin, British Antarctic Survey
It was signed in 1987 after the discovery of a hole in the ozone layer above the Antarctic, the part of the upper atmosphere where ozone is found in high concentrations.
Ozone absorbs ultraviolet radiation, preventing most of it from reaching the ground.
Concerted international action led to the signing in Montreal of a UN agreement which phased out ozone-depleting chemicals, including chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs) - once widely used in fridges and spray cans.
The new research, led by scientists at the University of Leeds, simulated what the ozone hole would have been like today if nothing had been done.æ›´æ–°ã¯ã—ãªãã¦ã‚‚上野(ã“ã†ãšã‘)ã®å›½ã¯é‚£é 公豬直接å«æˆ"朱è€å››äºŒæœˆçš„æ–™å³æ£æ‚„然掉隊å›é€ƒç´«è‰²çš„å°èŠ±åœ¨é¢¨ä¸è¼•è¼•æ–曳pelengkap untuk mengunyah sirih.ã¶ã«ã¯é–“éš”ãŒæŽ¨ç†ãŒé–“é•çœŒè°é¸ã¯ä¸‹è¨˜ã®çŠ¶ã‚‹æ—¥ã‚‚燃ãˆå°½ã

It shows fibres of dark matter, studded with galaxies, and voids in between.
The international collaboration, known as the Dark Energy Survey (DES), will present its preliminary findings on Tuesday at a meeting of the American Physical Society and publish them on the Arxiv preprint server.
The survey involves more than 300 scientists from six countries and uses images taken by one of the best digital cameras in the world: a 570-megapixel gadget mounted on the Victor Blanco telescope at the Cerro Tololo Inter-American Observatory, high in the Chilean Andes.
Incredible detail is required to detect dark matter, based purely on the way it warps the light from very distant galaxies.
Dense areas (warm colours) tend to have coincide with high numbers of galaxies whereas voids (blue) are nearly empty
Mapping the invisible
"Our goal all this time has been to see the invisible - to see dark matter," said Sarah Bridle, an astrophysics professor at the University of Manchester and co-chair of the DES weak lensing group, which produced the map.

Gravity acting across vast distances does not seem to explain what astronomers see
Galaxies, for example, should fly apart; some other mass must be there holding them togetherreenex cps
Astrophysicists have thus postulated "dark matter" - invisible to us but clearly acting on galactic scales
At the greatest distances, the Universe's expansion is accelerating
Thus we have also "dark energy" which acts to drive the expansion, in opposition to gravity
The current theory holds that 75% of the Universe is dark energy, 21% is dark matter, and just 4% the kind of matter we know well
"To be able to look at a map and say, 'That part of the sky's got more dark matter in it, that bit's empty,' is the dream that we've had all this time," Prof Bridle told the BBCä¿æ¿•ç²¾è¯ .

The theft was carried out by EBank's chief executive, a player known as Ricdic, now known to be a 27-year-old Australian who works in the technology industry. His full identity has not been revealed save that his first name is Richard.
The stolen kredits amounted to 8% of the 2.6tn that Ebank had in its virtual vaults.foamspace123
"Basically this character was one of the people who had been running EBank for a while. He took a bunch of (virtual) money out of the bank, and traded it away for real money," Ned Coker, of Icelandic company CCP which runs Eve, told the Reuters news agency.
Eve Online has about 300,000 players all of whom inhabit the same online universe. The game revolves around trade, mining asteroids and the efforts of different player-controlled corporations to take control of swathes of virtual space.
It has now emerged that Ricdic used the cash to put down a deposit on a house and to pay medical bills.
"I'm not proud of it at all, that's why I didn't brag about it," Ricdic told Reuters. "But you know, if I had to do it again, I probably would've chosen the same path based on the same situation."nicloseçš„åšå®¢
Ricdic has now been thrown out of the game as trading in-game cash for real money is against Eve Online's terms and conditions.
The rules governing play within Eve would not have sanctioned Ricdic if he had simply stolen the cash and used it in the game, nor if he had bought kredits with real dollars.Winter Vacation
The scandal is not the first to play out in Eve Online. In early 2009 one of the game's biggest corporations, called Band of Brothers, was brought down by industrial espionage.

Media reports said that the gas was hydrogen sulphide, which can be highly toxic and smells like rotten eggs.
It has been smelt in central, eastern and south-eastern parts of the cityreenex hong kong.
The gas was also detected in the capital's main shopping areas and around the parliament building, reports said.
Russia's emergencies ministry blamed the problem on a failure at a Moscow oil refinery, Interfax reported. However, the refinery's owner Gazprom Neft said there had been no accident and the levels of hydrogen sulphide at the plant were not excessive.
An earlier report suggested that the foul-smelling gas was coming from a network of facilities treating urban wastewater.
Natalya Gorelova, a 25-year-old resident of north-west Moscow, told the BBC she first noticed the gas on her way to her work in the south-west of the city during the morning.
"I have smelt the toxic gas all day. I'm at home now and I closed the windows. We are sitting at home, but I have a headache."
Exposure even to low concentrations of hydrogen sulphide can lead to headaches, dizziness and nausea, experts say.
"Since 11:00 this morning I have sensed a bad smell everywhere I go," one Muscovite tweeted, "whether at home, in the street or at work. "I thought I was getting sick and having [a] hallucinationreenex cps."

Here are a few of our favourite spots mentioned and the sometimes staggering distances distances that were traversed to get there.
Three Ways House Hotel, Gloucestershire, England
Distance travelled: 1,172km
Makiko Itoh drove all the way from Zurich to this old-fashioned hotel in southwestern England for its famous Pudding Club. As the name suggests, the meal involves trying seven different types of British-style pudding over the course of the evening.
"Just like Fight Club, the Pudding Club has rules,†Itoh explained. "Only one pudding allowed on the plate at a time. You must clean your plate before going up for seconds. You cannot go up to the Pudding Station out of turn, only when your table is called.â€
After the three-hour affair, diners vote on their favourite pudding, which includes varieties such as sticky toffee, apple, mincemeat and syrup sponge. The style with the most votes at the end of that year is designated "Pudding of the Yearâ€. The hotel holds the club every Friday night, though reservations need to be made far in advance.
Char Hung Sut, Honolulu, Hawaii
Distance travelled: 2,558 miles
Garrick Saito has family and friends in Hawaii, but when he went back for the first time in 15 years last year from Los Angeles, his first stop was hole-in-the-wall Char Hung Sut. Known for their dim sum-style treats, the restaurant is most famous for its manapua, which Saito described as "a unique blend of Chinese style barbeque pork and other spices stuffed into a steamed bunâ€.è·é«®ç”¢å“
Taillevent, Paris, France
Distance travelled: 5,726 miles
Founded in 1946, this three-star Michelin restaurant proved itself worthy of a journey from Portland, Oregon, to Paris, France. "The food was wonderful, including a caviar appetizer with the most exquisitely cooked egg I’ve ever seen,†Stephanie Vardavas said. "But the service was the real revelation: attentive without being overbearing, thoughtful and caring without the fake friendliness you get in American restaurants much of the time.â€
Scotty’s Broasted Chicken and Ribs, Lake Havasu City, Arizona
Distance travelled: 330 miles
Ariel Williams loves the food at this down-home diner so much, she not only buys a full rack of ribs when she arrives, but also takes two to go when she returns home to Tucson, Arizona. "The ribs are so tender, the meat falls off the bone as you pick it up,†she said. "The [fried] chicken is so juicy, you need goggles. My first time eating there, I cut one open and one of the chicken breasts squirted me in the eyeå¸å¦ç”¢å“!â€

The BBC's Umaru Fofana says frenetic shopping had been taking place ahead of Friday's lockdown
The World Bank's analysis said billions of dollars could be drained from West African countries by the end of next year if the virus continued to spread.
Under the worst-case scenario, the global development lender predicted that economic growth next year could be reduced by 2.3 percentage points in Guinea and 8.9 percentage points in Sierra Leone.
It predicted Liberia's economy would be hardest-hit, losing 11.7 percentage points off its growth next year.
The report emphasised the need to tackle the fear of the disease, as well as the virus itself. It said "aversion behaviour", arising from concerns about contagion, was having a bigger economic impact than the "direct costs" imposed by the epidemic.torial

Coupled with the Thai aspiration to own a car and get some status, this policy has resulted in five million vehicles in a city which can only cope with less than two million cars. Kissbabyyou
Once I got into a jam in downtown Bangkok, when I spent almost two hours moving less than a kilometre. Sometimes, my colleagues have arrived at work up to four hours late. I think the city should be more serious about public transport. People have better things to do than sit on the roads for hours every day.
Two or three weeks ago, travelling from Pathum Thani to central Bangkok, it took four and a half hours for a journey which usually takes less than an hour. Sirithep Vadrakchit, Thailand

I'm moving to a new job and will give myself 90 minutes to two hours to cover 20-25km
Mode of transport: I usually use taxis as they are generally braver
Another option is the Ojek, a motorcycle taxi service - it's good, fast and cuts through the traffic, and large numbers of people in hospitals all over Jakarta can attest to its popularity
Your life is planned around the traffic jams which often continue through the day. Travelling even short distances can take hours and some parts of the city are in a constant state of jam.
Unfortunately there is little alternative. Public transport is poor and even recent initiatives such as a trans-Jakarta bus lane are inefficient and even contribute to the problem by clogging intersections and reducing road space while moving comparatively small numbers of people.
Last week I went out to visit our new house. My driver got lost and ended up in Ciputat, a suburb notorious for traffic, and it took us about 30 minutes to cover 2km. Two hours to work in Sao Paolo? it's the stuff of dreams. Allan Bell, Jakartagilrmananger‘blog

On a good traffic-free day, one hour to cover 12km - but on Friday evenings, your guess is as good as mine - anything from three hours

We have just been at Donetsk airport which has in recent weeks been the focus of the fighting between Ukrainian forces and separatist rebels, with Ukrainian troops inside the main building there holding the airport.
We have heard a lot of mortars being fired, both into the airport area and outgoing as well. We also met an observer team from the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE).
It said most of the firing was outgoing from the airport, ie from Ukrainian troops. It said the firing had caused some fires in villages nearby but stressed that, although a violation of the ceasefire, the fighting at Donetsk airport was not sufficient to actually make the ceasefire collapse.

Several media outlets have noted reports in Western media outlets that the authorities are promoting Han migration and inter-ethnic marriages "in a bid to quell the Uighurs".
The autonomous region, in China's far west, has seen an upsurge in violence in recent months, which Beijing blames on Uighur separatists.
A few news portals have published articles supporting the policy, and suggest that the plan should also be implemented elsewhere.
However, the Global Times has observed scepticism over the scheme with some arguing that authorities should not intervene in citizens' personal matters.
According to the paper, local officials have stopped publicising the policy amid increased media attention.
"The intention of the policy is good, but it has to be carefully implemented… It might end up strengthening ethnic identity and create social pressure on [mixed-race] families," warns Li Xiaoxia, a professor with the Xinjiang Academy of Social Sciences, adding that mixed marriages are "rare in Xinjiang and are not likely to spread".
'Militarism in Japan'
Meanwhile, papers commemorate the 69th anniversary of China's second war with Japan.
Japanese forces invaded and occupied Manchuria in northern China in 1931. A wider war between the two countries began in 1937 and ended with Japan's surrender in August 1945, days after the US dropped atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki.
The commemorative event comes amid strained ties between Beijing and Tokyo over historical issues and territorial disputes.
Several papers have published editorials and articles recalling the "disasters and suffering that the invasion caused", while warning against the "revival of militarism in Japan".
"The celebration of the victory is not only to commemorate the event, but it is also in defence of peace… Until today, lessons from history must still be remembered as the right-wing forces in Japan are still white-washing history and becoming more aggressive," says the People's Daily.

Natural stone What sets it apart are artsy posters, rows of green plants and more spacious tables. KFC's owner, Yum Brands, is hoping that a more upscale dining experience, unveiled roughly a month ago, will lure back customers driven away by food safety scares and fierce competition.
The U.S. fast-food giant by the end of June had revamped 130 of its KFC outlets in China. It will also introduce free Wi-Fi in almost half of the country's 4,600 KFCs this year, already a fairly ubiquitous service at shopping malls and rival restaurant chains.
Could these efforts restore the shine of China's largest fast-food chain by revenue?
Warren Liu, former China vice president at Yum Brands and author of the book "KFC in China: Secret Recipe for Success," said these measures would "do little, if anything, to rebuild consumer confidence in food safety."
The latest blow to KFC came last month when a Chinese TV station revealed a food supplier was passing along expired and spoiled chicken meat. KFC was among the producer's client chains.
The probe into Shanghai Husi Food, the Chinese subsidiary of OSI Group in the U.S., had a "significant" impact on sales, a Yum Brands representative said July 30. Private equity research firm JL Warren Capital estimates that KFC's China sales in the third quarter will be around 15% lower than their 2012 peak.
Even before the Husi scandal, Colonel Sanders' fried chicken had been losing its allure in China. According to Liu's book, the number of KFCs grew at a 50% annual clip for the 18 years after the first outlet opened near Beijing's Tiananmen Square.
The Husi investigation revived memories of the December 2012 probe into excessive levels of antibiotics found in some KFC chicken products in China. That triggered a 41% decline in sales in January 2013 and a 40% year-on-year fall in Yum Brands' China net profit in the first quarter of 2013. KFC barely had time to recover before an outbreak of avian flu in April 2013 made people wary of eating chicken.usb dac

The days of his youth appeared like dreams before him, and he recalled the serious moment when his father placed him at the entrance of the two roads——one leading to a peaceful, sunny place, covered with flowers, fruits and resounding with soft, sweet songs; the other leading to a deep, dark cave, which was endless, where poison flowed instead of water and where devils and poisonous snakes hissed and crawled.
He looked towards the sky and cried painfully, "Oh youth, return! Oh my father, place me once more at the entrance to life, and I'll choose the better way!" But both his father and the days of his youth had passed away.
He was the lights flowing away in the darkness. These were the days of his wasted life; he saw a star fall from the sky and disappeared, and this was the symbol of himself. His remorse, which was like a sharp arrow, struck deeply into his heart. Then he remembered his friends in his childhood, who entered on life together with him. But they had made their way to success and were now honoured and happy on this New Year's night.
The clock in the high church tower struck and the sound made him remember his parents' early love for him. They had taught him and prayed to God for his good. But he chose the wrong way. With shame and grief he dared no longer look towards that heaven where his father live. His darkened eyes were full of tears, and with a despairing effort, he burst out a cry: "Come back, my early days! Come back!"英國自由行
And his youth did return, for all this was only a dream which he had on New Year's Night. He was still young though his faults were real; he had not yet entered the deep, dark cave, and he was still free to walk on the road which leads to the peaceful and sunny land.
Those who still linger on the entrance of life, hesitating to choose the bright road, remember that when years are passed and your feet stumble on the dark mountains, you will cry bitterly, but in vain: "O youth, return! Oh give me back my early days!"電話儲值å¡

I thought about it and realised that I needed some time - I didn't want my family to see me the way I was. So I said goodbye to Moustapha and took the bus to Alexandria. mimimeng
When Coach Sharif saw me, he shook his head, saying: "This is not the guy I've come to know. This is not him." I looked different - the pigment on my face was discoloured, I had hair all over my face. My teeth were rotten brown, my eyes were bloodshot red. But it wasn't just that. He basically saw that my soul was gone. And he said, the times I saw you happy were when you played basketball. orekiss
